Carla VanDeusen has been a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist since 1999 and a Usui Reiki Master-Teacher since 1998.  After an astounding sense of peace and well-being following her first Reiki treatment in 1992, Carla knew this was something in which she would become involved. She has performed numerous treatments over the years, as well as teaching and attuning others to become practitioners. Carla will often feel or sense a physical or emotional aspect of the recipient that needs attention.  Reiki is an extremely gentle but powerful form of energy work that allows the innate intelligence of one’s own body to heal itself with assistance of the practitioner.  The client lays fully clothed on a comfortable massage table to experience the full hands-on effect.  Reiki can also be done “long distance,” without the recipient being present.

She has worked with many cancer and lymphedema patients, and in 2001 became certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage/Complete Decongestive Therapy through Kessler Rehabilitation/Lerner Academy. She has been promoted by the Dyson Center for Cancer Care in Poughkeepsie.  Manual Lymph Drainage can also be helpful for anyone with edema, (tends to retain fluid,) poor circulation, or wrinkles!  It is a very gentle, rhythmic modality because most of the body’s lymph system is right under the skin.

Carla’s experience, intuition, and knowledge all come together in any session you may choose. She will often mix modalities within one session if you desire.  Current practices include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, Reiki, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, chakra balancing, reflexology, and Raindrop Essential Oil Therapy.

Besides being a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Master-Teacher, Carla has studied Native American healing practices with medical anthropologist Dr. Alberto Villoldo.  She is also a Certified Nursing Assistant and holds a Bachelors degree in Education.
